Practice Matters
In cash games or when deep stacked
In cash games or when deep stacked in a tournament, most experienced players will use a tight / aggressive style, most of the time. However, when faced with other players who are very tight, they may loosen up their game somewhat. Play more hands then usual and bluff more often.
Tight / Passive is a style
Tight / Passive is a style that many inexperienced or weak players may use. They will wait for premium starting hands and then will usually check-call. They will rarely raise before the River. Players who are playing with money that they really cant afford to lose will play scared. They only play when they fare sure that they have the best hand, but will either try to keep the pot small or go all in, in an attempt to get the other players to fold their draws.
