During my national Poker survey I watched many a Poker game and observed just what coffeehousing is tolerated. Most social weekly games made up of women only that I scouted permitted a player to say anything she liked, even lying about the strength of her hand.

Coffeehousing, permissable or not, is also used discreetly in bigtime Poker games including the annual Las Vegas World Series of Poker, when and where the stakes totaled $420,000 in 1978. There are, however, Poker games in Nevada casinos and in private clubs where coffeehousing is prohibited and players who persist in its use are told to take their card playing elsewhere.
