To acquire "betting courage" in big-time Poker games, one must first learn to cope with the tensions that are sure to arise in big-money games—the excitement, fear, frustration, nervousness, trepidity, etc. Few of the millions of nonprofessionals know how to cope with these tensions, since it takes years of Poker hustling to become hardened to them. However, I've seen many a Poker professional entrant in the yearly Las Vegas World Series Hold Em Tournament lose a $100,000 pot or more, get up from the table, and chalk it up to a bad day, adopting a "tomorrow's another day" attitude. On the other hand, I know of some twenty-odd nonprofessionals who have dropped dead at the Poker tables in the past decade. Cause of death? They could not cope with the tensions that arose in the Poker game they were involved in.
