Pot, Ante, Bets, and Their Functions The betting features of Poker are the pot, the ante, the check, the bet, the raise, the reraise, the call and the fold. Each possesses its own specific function. A general explanation of these functions, which apply at any betting interval, be it at Draw or Stud Poker or their variants, follows.
The Pot:
The Pot: an imaginary area somewhere near the center of the table where the ante and bets (cash or chips) of the players are placed. The winner or winners of the hand take the contents of the pot.
