Ordinarily, when the deck is cut, the dealer pushes it toward you and says, "Cut, Mac?" You take a block of cards off the top, put them on the table, and the dealer completes the cut. He picks up the bottom block and places it on the top block you cut off. This buries the cards the dealer-cheat is trying to control; he must undo the cut and return the deck to its precut position for the move to be effective. It must be done swiftly and without causing any suspicion.
