RULES OF PLAY All the preliminaries before the actual play are as described under General Rules for Poker, such as the pack of cards, rank of cards, rank of hands, preparations for play, betting limit, time limit, royalties, selecting the dealer and establishing seating positions at the table, the shuffle and cut, and irregularities in cutting the cards. The number of players at Five Card Stud may range from two to ten. The better Poker players like best a game with eight, nine or ten players, on the theory that this allows more latitude for strategy.
