The moment had arrived. It was Mr. X's turn to deal. Mr. X gave the deck several thorough flat table riffle shuffles, then placed the deck in front of me to be cut. After I had completed the cutting of the cards, Mr. X placed the deck in his left palm and proceeded to deal out four Poker hands. Steiner, who was seated at Mr. X's left, was the blind and without looking at his cards made a blind ante of $20. Mr. Y, seated at Steiner's left, being the straddle, was forced to make a $40 bet. It now came my turn to bet and I made a voluntary blind straddle bet of $80. Mr. X called, as did Steiner and Mr. Y. The pot now contained $320.

I studied Mr. X as he looked at his hand and noticed that his previous poker-face composure had completely disappeared and his face had turned a pinkish red. I quickly glanced at Mr. Y as he studied his hand and noticed him shaking his head from side to side. Mr. X picked up the remaining undealt cards, faced Steiner and asked in a weak, choking voice, "How many cards?" Steiner discarded and called for two cards.
