They may see the all-in bet as weakness and believe that the player wants everyone to fold. They will often put a player who goes all - in, pre-flop, on a hand like pocket Jacks or even as an amateurish bluff in order to steel the pot.
The only real downside to this strategy
The only real downside to this strategy is that you may have to suffer through some snickering or criticisms. But, keep in mind that frustrating your table mates is really a good thing. The object of poker is to do what your opponents do not want you to do. Always keep your opponents confused and frustrated about your play.
