Outs is a term referring to the number
Outs is a term referring to the number of desired cards in the deck that will improve a players hand and likely give him the best hand. In the previous example, the number of outs to make a flush was If a open ended straight is flopped, the number of outs is 8. Outs can also be used to refer to the number of cards that will give a player a desired hand. For example, with a pocket pair, there are 2 outs that will give the player a set.
It is easy to determine how many outs
It is easy to determine how many outs there are to make a particular hand, like a flush, but it can be much more difficult to calculate precisely how many outs there are in order to make a winning hand. The reason for this, is that some of a players outs may give an opponent a better hand.
